1929-1940 Archives
Early issues of The Transmitter published between 1929 and 1936 were formatted in a style similar to a news bulletin. At eight pages in length and printed in a single color (black), they were intended primarily for internal company distribution. These early issues contained a mix of subscriber related stories and employee tidbits, including service anniversaries, birth and wedding announcements, “capture club” updates, jokes, humor, etc. 90 issues were published is this early format.
Beginning in 1937 The Transmitter was reformatted. It was given a magazine-style front page, with a red title banner added to the top. Distribution was expanded to include subscribers to the company’s services and public safety officials. Also, starting in 1937 content was changed to include mostly subscriber related stories, and fewer employee announcements.
