May 6, 2025 – St. Lucie County Radiological Emergency Exercise. (The following message is from Paul Horner – W4ISZ, St. Lucie County ARES® Emergency Coordinator.)
St. Lucie County will be participating in a radiological emergency exercise on Tuesday May 6, 2025. This exercise typically starts at 8:00 am and should conclude by 1:00 pm.
St. Lucie County ARES® will participate in this emergency exercise as we have done in the past.
A net will be conducted at 9:00 am on our primary (147.240) VHF repeater.
At 9:30 am, a secondary net will be conducted on the County UHF linked repeater system. You can check into this net on any of the below listed W4SLC repeaters:
443.475 (PSL High School)
444.600 (Rock Road)
442.000 (South County)
There will also be an important Winlink component to this exercise.
Winlink stations are requested to send a Local Weather Report form from the Standard Templates. Winlink messages can be sent via any mode (telnet, packet, VARA, etc.).
Winlink messages should be addressed to both W4SLC and SLCEOC-2
The Local Weather Report should include both wind speed and direction. If you do not have a personal weather station, it is ok to use the weather app on your phone or other device to get that information. Of secondary importance would be an indication of precipitation, if any, and the relative humidity.
Please send your Winlink message anytime between 9:00 am and 11:00 am on the morning of the exercise.
You do not need to be a member of ARES® or any club to participate in this exercise!
Additional announcements will be made as needed.
