Background

The Treasure Coast Ham News newsletter and the Treasure Coast Hams website are the genesis of two retired hams.

In 2019, while serving on the Port Saint Lucie Amateur Radio Association (PSLARA) Board we published The Beacon, a club newsletter. Six issues of The Beacon were published by the end of the year when our terms on the board expired. Sadly, the new board opted to not continue the newsletter.

In January 2020 over coffee and bagels at Bean & Bagel, a local coffee shop, we mused about the absence of a local newsletter and toyed with the idea of creating a replacement for The Beacon. We continued to meet weekly over coffee and began formulating plans for an expanded newsletter that would be of interest to all Treasure Coast hams, not just Port Saint Lucie residents.

In March 2000 the first issue of Treasure Coast Ham News was published. The newsletter was well received and soon became widely distributed throughout the Treasure Coast.

In the newsletter, the publishers were identified as B & B Partners. When asked the meaning of “B & B,” we would point out that the conceptual plan for the newsletter was developed over coffee at the Bean & Bagel coffee shop.

After nearly five years producing our high quality newsletter, we decided to suspend regular publication and focus future efforts on developing the Treasure Coast Hams website. We hope the website will be as informative and well received as was the newsletter.

Content Submission to Treasure Coast Hams

As was the policy of Treasure Coast Ham News, we continue to encourage local hams to submit articles and stories of interest to the amateur radio community. Bylines identifying the author or contributor will always be included with all published articles. Any articles and stories without identifying bylines are original work by the editors.

Unless otherwise agreed, unsolicited content for publication will require a statement of ownership and consent to publish. Content obtained from publicly available sources and web pages should always be attributed with source and ownership whenever this information is available.

Copyrighted material will not knowingly be published without consent of the owner of the copyright. Should a quotation or photo from a copyrighted source be included in an article, attribution of the owner must be noted. We will do our best to insure compliance with copyrights, but the writer or submitter of material for inclusion on the website has ultimate responsibility for the material submitted.

AI generated content will not knowingly be published unless exclusive ownership of the material can be verified.

Content will be removed from the web site if so requested by the author of an article or story, providing the requestor’s ownership of content is verified.

The website editors reserve the right at their discretion, and with the owner’s consent, to make editorial disclaimers or alterations to submitted content for readability, clarity, accuracy and quality of pictures and graphics.
